Old Oakhamian Kathryn Lane (13) and her former Oakham PE teacher Ellie Watton are featured in the powerful England Hockey #BehindEveryGreatPlayer campaign, which celebrates the importance of supportive role models in achieving sporting success.
Kathryn and Ellie are currently in intensive preparations hoping to represent England in the Hockey Women’s World Cup, which is to take place on home soil in London from 21 July to 5 August 2018. If selected, they will be looking to add to their success when they played alongside each other in the England Women’s Hockey team at the Commonwealth Games in April and picked up a Bronze medal.
Mr James Bateman, Director of Hockey said, “This is a terrific campaign by England Hockey. It recognises the value of supportive friends, family, coaches, and teammates etc. in Sport, and it is fantastic to see Ellie and Kathryn taking part in it. These are exciting times for them both and we wish them the best of luck for the weeks ahead.”
