Old Oakhamians gathered from across the world to attend the annual London Dinner, which this year took place at the splendid Kensington Roof Gardens.
Alumni had travelled from as far afield as Pakistan and Seattle to join the event, and there were Oakhamians present who had attended the School between the years of 1953 to 2013.
After a Champagne drinks reception and a delicious three course meal, two superb speeches were given by the OO President Kat Hodge (94) and the Headmaster, Mr Nigel Lashbrook.
Kat Hodge spoke of the importance of an Oakham education in providing key skills and the self-confidence to achieve anything. She also impressed on her audience just out how important the Oakham alumni network can be for both providing, and benefiting from, mentoring and careers advice.
“It was great to see everyone enjoying the chance to connect with one another and reminisce,” says Eileen Fisher, OO Alumni Manager. “It was particularly interesting to learn how mentoring had influenced the OO President’s own career and furthered her opportunities. It just shows how useful our online alumni platform, The Hub, can be to students leaving the school.”
The Headmaster’s address focused on Oakham's progress over recent years - the achievements of current pupils both in and outside of the classroom, along with the School's ambitious future development plans.

The next OO social event is Christmas Drinks, which takes place at the Finery, Oxford Circus, London on 18th December. For further information and to register a place click here.
