Oakham School welcomed back Old Oakhamian Alex Goode to help coach the 1st XV rugby team in their preparations for the forthcoming competitions against Solihull, King’s Parramatta and Stowe.
Alex, who played for the 1st XV during his time at Oakham, was able to put the boys through their paces and pass on his knowledge and skills. At the end of the session he also spent some time with the team fielding some searching questions about his premiership rugby performances.
Director of Rugby Andy Rice said, “It was fantastic to welcome Alex back to the School to inspire the next generation of rugby stars.” The 1st XV team really enjoyed being coached by such a talented rugby player, and it is great that they can benefit from his expertise.”
On leaving Oakham, Alex joined Saracens Rugby Club and has enjoyed an impressive career for club and country to date - including being named 'man of the match' in both the Championship and European Cup finals, which his club won last season. He is also ambassador for the Matt Hampson foundation.
